The PCS (Punjab Civil Services Executive) is conducted by PPSC (Punjab Public Service Commission) to recruit SDMs, DSPs, Tehsildars and other senior bureaucrats for service in Punjab.

Eligibility for PCS Exam

The educational qualification needed to appear in PPSC Punjab Civil Services Exam is a Graduation Degree in any subject recognized by UGC. Matriculation with Punjabi compulsory or elective.

Age Limit for PCS Exam

The Minimum Age to appear in PPSC Punjab Civil Services Exam is 21 years as on 1st January of that year. Upper Age limit for General Category is 37 Years, for BC/SC it is 42 years. Age limit for DSP is 28 for General Category and 33 for BC/SC.

Attempts

Number of attempts permissible for a general category candidate is 6, for OBC candidates the number of attempts permitted is 9, SC/ST category will have unlimited attempts till they attain the upper age limit to appear for the Exam.

PCS Exam Pattern 

The PPSC Exam Pattern includes three stages:

  1. PPSC Preliminary Exam
  2. PPSC Mains Exam
  3. PPSC Interview

PPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

The PPSC Prelims Exam is an objective type containing multiple-choice questions. There are two papers of 200 marks each. Each paper is 2 hours each.

PPSC Main Exam Pattern

PPSC Main  is descriptive in  nature.There are four General Studies (GS) papers

PPSC Interview Pattern

This is the final stage of the PPSC Exam before the final results are declared. Officially it is called the Interview/Personality Test and counted as a part of the Mains Examination for merit ranking purposes.

Important Dates

The Punjab PCS Exam is not conducted as per a Calendar. The Punjab Public Service
Commission notifies the aspirants about the PCS Exam only a few months before.
