Eligibility for PCS Exam

The educational qualification needed to appear in PPSC Punjab Civil Services Exam is a Graduation Degree in any subject recognized by UGC. Candidates must also have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject.

Any Recognized Stream + Punjabi at 10th Level

Age Limit (SDM vs DSP)

All Posts (except DSP):21 to 37 Years (General Category as of 1st Jan of exam year).
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP):21 to 28 Years (plus mandatory physical standard tests).
Age relaxations apply for SC/BC (up to 42 yrs)

SC / ST Category:Unlimited (up to 42 yrs)

Selection Process

Three Stages of the Punjab PCS Examination

01

Stage 1: Preliminary Exam

2 Objective Papers (GS + CSAT) of 200 marks each = 400 Marks. No negative marking.

Stage 2: Mains Written

7 Descriptive Papers (Punjabi, English, Essay + 4 GS Papers) = 1350 Marks total.

03

Stage 3: Interview / Viva

Personality Test by PPSC board = 150 Marks. Final merit is out of 1500 Marks.

Notification Calendar Note

The Punjab PCS Exam is not conducted as per a fixed annual calendar. The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) notifies the aspirants about the PCS Exam only a few months before the preliminary date. Aspirants are advised to maintain continuous year-round preparation.
